National Council on Disability Posts Vacancy Announcement for Executive Director and Identifies Search Committee

WASHINGTON—The National Council on Disability (NCD) announced today that it has posted a vacancy announcement for an executive director on USAJOBS (http://jobsearch.usajobs.opm.gov/jobsearch.asp?re=10&vw=d&pg=1&q=%22National+Council+on+Disability%22&FedEmp=N&sort=rv&brd=3876&ss=0&FedPub=Y), the official job site of the U.S. Federal Government. NCD also announced a Search Committee for this important position.

According to NCD chairperson Lex Frieden, “The Search Committee will include former NCD chairperson, Marca Bristo; NCD Personnel Committee chairperson, Milton Aponte, J.D.; NCD vice chairperson, Glenn Anderson. Ph.D.; and outgoing chairperson, Lex Frieden. An additional member of this committee will be designated by the incoming NCD chairperson, upon his confirmation and swearing-in. The new NCD chairperson will also designate one of these individuals to serve as chair of the committee. The Search Committee will work in concert with the NCD Personnel Committee and will inform the NCD Board on progress to review, rate, and interview candidates, and to recommend, for appointment as NCD executive director, the most qualified applicant.”

NCD’s previous executive director, Ethel D. Briggs, served the agency for 21 years and retired on June 30, 2006.

NCD is an independent federal agency making recommendations to the President and Congress to enhance the lives of all people with disabilities and their families.
