SCOPE AND PURPOSE:

In this paper, NCD addresses the impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita on people who were already struggling emotionally before the hurricanes hit and on people who developed psychiatric disabilities as a result of the hurricanes’ devastation. This paper also provides recommendations to improve the provision of mental health services during and after a disaster.
